With 147km of coastline any visit to Waterford wouldn’t be complete without visiting a beach. Waterford’s beaches, in addition to nestling in the warm heart of the Sunny South East, are some of the most beautiful in the country. We have brought you just a small selection below.
Clonea Beach, one of Waterford’s EU Blue Flag beaches is located approx. 5kms from Dungarvan town and just 5 minutes from us here at Golf Coast Golf Resort. Clonea is a sandy crescent shaped beach set snugly into the coastline and boasts fantastic views and scenic walks. Lifeguards are on duty at Clonea throughout the Summer months making it safe and family friendly.
Stradbally Cove is located along the Copper Coast and just under 15 minutes from us here at Golf Coast Golf Resort. Almost hidden and well protected between two hills lies a little bay. The extensive sandy beach stretches a good distance from the sea into the interior.
Bunmahon Beach is located along the beautiful South East coastal drive and approximately 25 minutes from us here at Gold Coast Golf Resort. Bunmahon is a 5km sandy beach backed by sand dunes with tall cliffs at each end offering shelter to the beach area. Bunmahon is a great place to learn to surf, with gently sloping and breaking waves – particularly in Summer time.
Ardmore Beach is located in West Waterford, midway between Dungarvan and Youghal and just 30 minutes from us here at Golf Coast Golf Resort. Ardmore beach boasts a golden arc of sand and is overlooked by a hilly cliffs with spectacular views. A popular choice for water enthusiasts with a wide range of activities to be enjoyed including kayaking, canoeing, stand up sea paddling or even rock climbing if you are feeling adventurous. There are also smaller and quitter beaches located within close proximity to Ardmore – Goat Island, Ballyquin, Whiting Bay and the Currage.
Tramore Beach located in East Waterford is 45 minutes from us here at Gold Coast Golf Resort. Tramore beach is a truly spectacular and broad crescent shaped stretches 5km along Waterford’s coastline. The eastern side of the beach is a haven of activity and backed by the popular town of Tramore with it’s promenade and amusements. As you head further along the beach towards Brownstown head it becomes increasingly quiet with a backdrop of sand dunes. Tramore Beach is a popular choice for surfing.
Dunmore East Beaches
Dunmore East is located in South East Waterford, approximately 55 minutes from us here at Gold Coast Golf Resort. Dunmore East Boasts a number of small, sheltered and picturesque beach coves which are ideal for swimming and snorkelling. The most popular are Councillors, a south facing beach between lofty red sandstone cliffs, and Lawlors, located in the heart of the village. Within the village of Dunmore East there are a number of beautiful and secluded coves including Stony Cove, Ladies Cove, Mens Cove & Badgers Cove.
